It’s the morning after he won his first Grand Slam title at the U.S. Open and a sleep-deprived Andy Roddick appears high on adrenaline as he navigates around a section of the ESPN Zone located in New York City’s Times Square.

Roddick is spending the day doing a supersized media turn around Manhat-tan, chatting with Katie Couric on the Today show, visiting with Regis & Kelly, smiling for a photo shoot in the middle of Times Square and meeting with select members of the full-time tennis media. Later in the afternoon, before he flew off to shop for a new home in Austin, Texas, Roddick was scheduled to do a guest VJ stint on TRL, the popular MTV music show.

Joining Roddick on his media swing were his agents; a couple of public relations specialists from the world of tennis; his brother John, a former tennis coach at the University of Georgia who now runs a tennis academy in San Antonio, Texas; John’s wife, Ginger, who serves as her brother-in-law’s personal publicist; and Andy’s girlfriend, actress/singer Mandy Moore.

“It’s been craziness—doing the early morning shows and I’m all booked up today,” Roddick says, still somewhat in a state of disbelief over his accomplishment. “I never imagined what it would be like to win a slam and I never imagined what the aftermath would be like either. To win a Grand Slam in New York —the biggest city in the world and the people here definitely pay attention to what’s going on. I think there was a lot of love coming my way today.”
